Ingredients

  • Group: For the Oat Base
  • - 1/2 cup 45 g old-fashioned rolled oats
  • - 1/2 cup 120 ml milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • - 1/2 tsp chia seeds
  • - 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Group: For the Yogurt Swirl
  • - 1/4 cup 60 g plain Greek yogurt
  • - 1 tbsp honey
  • - 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Group: For Topping
  • - fresh berries sliced banana, or chopped nuts
  • - extra honey for drizzling

Method

  1. In a jar or container, stir together the oats, milk, chia seeds, and cinnamon.
  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk the Greek yogurt, honey, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Spoon the yogurt mixture over the oats and swirl gently with a spoon so you get streaks rather than a fully blended mixture.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 5-6 hours, or overnight.
  5. In the morning, stir gently if you'd like a more uniform texture, then top with fresh fruit, chopped nuts, and a drizzle of honey.

Notes

  • Storage: Keeps in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
  • Make ahead: This recipe scales easily — make several jars at once for a week of breakfasts.
  • Swap: Swap the cinnamon for cardamom or pumpkin pie spice, or stir a spoonful of peanut butter into the yogurt swirl.
